The boys each bought a souvenir coconut cup/bank today with a slushee in it. Three of them are pirates and JJ bought the "one of a kind" one that just has a smiley face. All four are pretty impressed with their cool coconut guys.
After the sun came out, Justin and Tanner ran to Wal-Mart to buy a fishing pole. You can rent them here for $15 for a day. You can buy one for $12, so the decision was an easy one to make and Wal-Mart is only 2 minutes down the road. While they were gone, Lucas, Hayden, JJ and I headed out for a walk around the resort and to the playground.
While the little boys played on the jungle gym, JJ was searching for lizards. He and Tanner are in a heated competition on who will catch one first. And let me just say that these little lizards are FAST! It's very possible that we'll end this vacation with no winner at all.
Justin and Tanner finally got back from Wal-Mart and came down to meet us. The playground is right beside the lake, so we joined them in the fishing fun.
And then it happened...Justin met a pile of red ants. It doesn't matter where we are, he always manages to meet up with something that stings, bites, etc. One minute we're walking lazily around the lake; the next he's yelling at us to turn around and get out of there. His ankles are a little bit up, but otherwise he's fine and the boys didn't get into them at all.
Set up around the resort is a sort of outdoor gym.
Lucas gave the situp station a try while Hayden made up his own balancing exercise.
Before we headed back to the house for dinner, we stopped by the bouncehouse that is set up down by the pool.
When we got back to our villa, Lucas asked if he could lay in his bed while we cooked dinner.
This is what I found when I went in to call him to the table - at 7:30.
It may have rained today and we may not have done anything of great value today (i.e. attractions, etc). However, we did what our family does best - enjoy our time together no matter the circumstances. If we can have a blast in Maine in March, we can do it even better in Florida in October! When we asked the boys if they had fun today, we received a resounding, "YES!"
We have always taught the boys that vacation's are not about what you can buy or what souvenir you can bring home. What really matters are the experiences we have and the memories we make. I think that we made many memories today : )
