We left for Florida last night at 7:30pm and arrived today around 11:30 (this includes a stop for lunch). Tanner and JJ fell asleep at around 8:30, which was nice. The little boys didn't fall asleep until about 11 because they were watching Tom & Jerry on their DVD players. They kept us amused though because they had headphones on so we couldn't hear the movie. However, both of them kept a running commentary about what Tom and Jerry were doing to each other. They weren't really talking so much to as, as just merely talking and laughing out loud to the shenanigans of the movie : )
We are on the tail end of a tropical storm apparently, so it rained from the instant we hit the Florida state line and it hasn't stopped yet. So, we did what we usually do on the first afternoon of every vacation we've ever taken...drive around and get our bearings for where everything is. For the kids, that means souvenir shops; for us, that means things on our list to do - attractions, etc. We then had a little bit of time to spare before our condo was ready, so we went to the McDonald's play place (hey, you can't beat it when it's raining and you have four kids who need to run off some energy).
After about 45 minutes there, we go the call that our room was ready, so we headed to check into our condo (our biggest yet - 3 bedrooms/sleeps 8):
Master bedroom with jacuzzi tub and then the separate bathroom with shower (behind door)
And, of course, the boys needed to try out the jacuzzi tub!
Master suite living room (with pull out sofa) with dining room and full kitchen.
Bedroom 2 with two twin beds and bedroom 3 with a pull out sofa.
Little kitchenette outside bedrooms 2 and 3 and the bathroom between them.
Now, there is a flat screen tv in each bedroom and in the master suite living room, so the boys were content on this yucky rainy day to just sit and recover from the 15 hour car ride. Lucas even fell asleep for an hour or so. However, once they heard there was an arcade down in the Guest House, they were instantly rejuvenated : )
The coolest thing about the arcade was the ticket munching, prize dispensing machine. You'd stick your tickets right into it and then it gave you your total. There were then 13 different levels or doors to choose prizes from based on how many tickets you had. You pushed a button to rotate the prize wheels and then pushed a button once the prize you wanted was viewable through the "prize selection window". It would then spin the wheel and drop that prize into the retrieval door. It was actually pretty neat and the concept it great!
