GCFD 1925 Fire Truck

Tonight was County Market's annual anniversary car show, so we took the boys over to look.

There were many, many corvettes, mustangs, and other muscle cars. However, the one that drew our eye was the 1925 Grove City Fire Department truck.

Bought by the Grove City Fire Department in 1925 and still owned by them to this day, the gentleman who brought it to the show turned out to be related to me. My family tree has many branches, and he apparently belongs on my Great-Grandma Helen Wise's branch. He told me that he joined the Springfield Township Fire Department when he was fifteen years old and the station was still under the leadership of my Great-Grandpa Wise. It was nice to meet someone I didn't know and hear him tell stories about my great-grandfather, whom I never had the pleasure of knowing. He even let the boys sit on the truck, ring the bell, and turn the crank that created the siren. They loved it!
