5th Annual BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin)

When we moved into this house in 2004, we realized we had no family "traditions" of our own. So, in keeping with kid themed ideas, we had our first BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin) Party in October 2004. Justin and I supply the pumpkin cutters, markers, etc and some lunch to eat and our friends and family bring a pumpkin. This year was the fifth annual party. An exciting event in itself because we've never lived in one place for so long! This year was the biggest (in terms of number of people - 22 adults and 20 kids) and I think the weather this year was the best ever (80 degrees). It was a great day with family and friends!

There were big pumpkins, small pumpkins, skinny pumpkins, and fat pumpkins...and a whole lot of pumpkin goo!!! The kids had a blast carving their pumpkins, climbing the trees, and playing ball together. The adults simply enjoyed the sun and the time to talk and catch up.

Hayden slept through the entire party and Lucas carved his first pumpkin! Tanner and JJ enjoyed having LOTS of friends and cousins over to play with. They were all very excited when we lit the candles in their pumpkins for the first time tonight...these were their creations and they are very proud of them!

Another party is over...but the kids are already looking forward to next year's! Thanks to all who came and helped and made this day a great one for fun, fellowship, food, and funny-faced pumpkins!
