I was telling Hayden how now that I don't have to work on Wednesday nights anymore we can go to Awana. He was asking me what they do there and I told him they learn memory verses, play games, earn stickers... He said he didn't think he wanted to go to Awana.
I said, "Not even to earn stickers?"
"Nope"
"But you love stickers!"
(dramatic pause)
"I HATE stickers now. I'm a big boy!!"
I could see my grandfather's face in that moment and hear him saying "Hallelujah!!"
*note - he spent one Christmas covered in stickers because Hayden was sharing them!
