Another gift from my parents was this awesome santa cookie plate/mug set. It comes with a little story of the history of leaving santa cookies and milk. It seems he accidentally left behind Mrs. Clauss' homemade cookies one Christmas Eve and quickly lost the energy he needed to complete all his present deliveries. One little girl saw him and asked him why he looked so tired. He explained that he'd left his wife's cookies behind by accident and didn't think he'd make it through the night because he didn't have the energy. She provided him with some cookies and milk and off he went.
As we were laying out the plate/mug for santa, I realized we didn't have any cookies left in the house thanks to four little boys who love cookies. So, we had to leave santa some leftover cinnamon rolls we'd had that morning. Don't worry - santa didn't mind at all. : )
