For graduation, all Justin asked me for was live lobster from Maine. We met a lobster fisherman last year when we vacationed in Maine and he had told us that he shipped them FedEx overnight all over the United States. We had discussed doing this, but never settled on it for sure. I surprised Justin yesterday and had four 1.5 pound lobsters delivered.
The box arrived at noon, but Justin worked until 3:30. The kids wanted to open the box and play with the lobster (we let them crawl around the kitchen floor when we were in Maine), but Justin was adamant that he was going to open his present himself.
As soon as he got home, the boys were very clear that he had to open the box immediately!
And there they were -
Only this time, the only "kid" allowed to play with the lobster was Justin himself. He was very territorial about "his" lobster.
We called some friends and family on Friday night (when we told Justin what we had ordered him to arrive the next day) and asked them to join us Saturday afternoon for a barbeque and lobster. I bought some steaks, made seasoned rice, and steamed some broccoli. Michelle brought a strawberry/walnut spinach salad, Shantell brought some yummy chicken dip and chips, and David brought the mashed potatoes. For dessert, I made an angel food cake with icing made from whipped cream mixed with crushed pineapple and Michelle brought a DQ cake for Justin. We definitely ate well last night and hd a really fun time with everyone.
Justin got one whole lobster to himself. He shared the other two with our guests and we have one still alive today that will be delivered to my Grandma Wise and cooked for her dinner.
Justin was in his glory!
Here's a picture with his diploma, his lobster, and his DQ cake!
I was so proud of Hayden. When we were in Maine, he spent most of his time at the dinner table just playing with the lobster claw and didn't eat any. This time he actually put in real effort trying to crack it before he asked Dave Hummel to crack it open for him. Then Hayden actually ate some and said he liked it. It's amazing how their food likes change from year to year.
As everyone was leaving, the boys were playing Wii. Dave go in on the action and hung out with the boys for a while. I think all three of them enjoyed that!
Congratulations Justin! You put in three years of hard work and finished your degree.
