Awana Games 3-20-10

This was Tanner and JJ's first year participating with the Awana Games Team. They practiced once a week for and hour and a half for six weeks prior to the event. Driving to Saturday's games, I was not in a good mood, assuming that I was about to spend an entire Saturday morning watching Tanner and JJ play boring "games" while I attempting to keep Hayden and Lucas interested and well behaved. I was not looking forward to the next three hours of my life.

Then the games began...

WOW!!! What an amazing event! These were not merely "games" at all, but precision and skill and teamwork and sportsmanship I've rarely seen in third, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. There were rules and there were disqualification possibilities and there was technique. I'm definitely bringing my parents and grandparents next year! My dad will love it!

Grove City Alliance Church took two Truth & Training teams to this year's event and both teams, yes both teams, earned 1st place!! Gold medals all around! Here's some pictures I took of the boys in their events, as well as showing off their gold.
