With Justin working on Saturdays and Sundays now, I find myself drawn quite often to my parents' house. With the open fields calling for the boys to use their imaginations and me knowing that they are perfectly safe doing so, I am able to sit back and relax. It's a nice break for me and gets us out of "cabin fever land".
Saturday was warm enough to finally be able to breath outside, yet cold enough for the snow to still be there. I got a call from my mom saying that my dad had been outside prepping the sledding hill for the boys to come. You know you're a redneck when you "prep" a sledding hill by using a tractor to pack down the runs!! So me being a daughter who doesn't want to disappoint a man with a mission, I packed up the kids and we went to my parents' house.
Now, let me admit that as a child, my cousins, brothers, and I were all rather spoiled. We never were made to trek back up the hill after sledding down. There was always a snowmobile "taxi" who would give us a pull up the hill so we could make our next run.
Well, sticking with tradition, my dad had out the snowmobile and Tanner and JJ joined him for an afternoon of sledding fun. However, noting that the snow was about thigh high to the boys made the snowmobile somewhat of a necessity. Trekking up the hill after making one pass would have worn the boys out to exhaustion!! They had a great time out there and when they were done, they came in for a very short time before Blair and Ashley came. The two of them took a quick snowmobile ride and then they took to the hill. Tanner and JJ got suited back up and joined them. It seemed that the typical McCurdy competitive spirit was in the air as Tanner and Blair joined together and Ashley and JJ all raced each other down the hill.
What day is complete without an audience? Emily was there, as were my Grandma and Grandpa Wise who made a great audience inside with Lucas, Hayden, me, and my mom. It turned out to be a great day/night as we talked, laughed, ate dinner together, and reminisced about many funny things from the past!
We missed David, Erin, and the boys but it was Erin's birthday so I hope David took her someplace nice for supper!! Oh, and David - if your ears were ringing it's because you were one of the sources of our funny stories!!
