Bethany Beach

This year, with the Poconos out of the list of options, my mom rented a large beach house for vacation.  Mixing family and friends made for an awesome week together!

Just a walk to the playground...with 15 kids.  No big deal.
However, frequent headcounts were required.

The call for the 'adult only' swim time at the pool was never received well.
Especially for the 16 kids we had in our group.

And then, there was the day we wanted to try out the trolley to the beach, and we waited, and waited, and waited some more until we gave up on it coming at all.

Ice cream on the boardwalk definitely eased the disappointment of no trolley ride.

Every now and then, the shoe pile in the entry way needed addressed...

Lots of tennis was played, of course!

Justin, the boys, and I have a tradition of going putt-putt golfing on every vacation we take.
It would have just been too much to take 30 people, so we headed out for an afternoon with just the six of us, my parents, Blair, and Bryce.

Lucas kept making friends with all the trolls scattered around the course.

Another beach tradition for us is crabbing, so we took our crabbing gear along with us and hoped we could find a good spot to set our pots.

My dad had never seen crabbing done, so he was a little amazed by the process.

After a while, he found feeding the birds to be a bit more exciting.

During a non-beach day adventure, we went to Assateague Island to see the famous horses.

We also stumbled upon NASA's Wallops Flight Facility (flight and rocket test center) that had a really nice visitor center.  We spent quite a bit of time there reading about the work done there.  There was also a rooftop space that we could watch the planes taking off and landing from the base across the road.

We had a great vacation and were so thankful to my parents for organizing it and funding it. :)
We were all exhausted and the boys got right to building sleeping forts for the ride home.
