A little redneck vacation

My parents have been going on what they've dubbed "redneck vacations" for years and they've often taken us along.  Us being me when I was younger and then me and the boys in more recent years.  Justin's worked on Saturdays for ages, so he's never been able to join us.

Now a redneck vacation means going to Clearfield, PA during the big Grice's Gun Shop and Bob's Army Navy sales.  It's usually a full weekend of Clearfield adventures including going to the two stores, Denny's big burger restaurant, swimming in the hotel pool and also visiting the antique shops in the area.  Again, Justin had never been but this year he was determine to change his status.

The sale was scheduled for March 27-29 and he said to me on March 23, "I think we should go away this weekend."  So I said, "Sure. To where?"  "Well, it's Grice's big sale...and um I've never been...and I think it would be fun."  So the planning began.

He still had to work on Saturday, so we planned to leave as soon as he was done with work and then come back on Sunday evening.  We got there in time to drive around Clearfield a bit and get Justin acclimated to where everything was.  The boys had some time in the pool and then we had a pizza party in our room.  There was even a little table on wheels that fit perfectly between the beds.

Hayden was convinced that the floor area below the desk was made just for him to sleep because it was a "perfect fit" when he stretched out completely!

Justin didn't end up making any big gun purchased, but Lucas and Hayden did.  Lucas got a little .22 plinkster and Hayden got a .410.  Both were very excited with their purchases and even more excited to get home and try them out.

Then it was on to Denny's for the big burger challenge.  After waiting 90 minutes in line, Justin was told that the 2-pound burger challenge burger took 45 minutes to prepare.  None of the boys or I were very impressed with that information, so he settled for the one pound burger instead.  JJ got a 1/3 pound burger so he could say he had eaten a burger at the "big burger place" too.

We had a really great time away and the boys enjoyed the experience of their first redneck weekend with their dad along.
