Hiking at Goddard State Park - 2013

What happens when you decide to take a walk at Goddard State Park on the first warm day since winter began?  Adventures, of course!

Tanner and Wesley were convinced they'd be able to find the materials
to make a fishing pole and then actually catch a fish with it.

Over the river and through the woods...

Adventuring we will go!

To catch a big fish, you must have some bait
and then you just cast and wait!

Lucas will run, like a bear's at his back
His role to play filled quite well.
He is the family maniac...
he loves to dance, run, and yell.

And then the adventure will come to the part
where imagination takes over with pride.
Who'd of thought a paved trail through the woods
could be made into a really long slide?

The green, plastic sled they found on the trail
was deemed worthy to be put to the test.
The big boys jumped on and slid down the path
declaring it was definitely safe for the rest.
But hey, who needs a pavement slide when you
have piles of snow available and boots for skis?  :)

From a pile of rocks along the frozen lake,
the next adventure on the list,
was to throw big rocks or little rocks
from high and from low
to smash through the ice below.

Not many made it through the thick ice of the lake
but fun was had by all.
Laughter, singing, running, playing...
The decision to take this adventure was a great call!
