We used apple pies made inside the actual apple as a picture story for how Jesus can cleans out the yuck in our lives and replace that with His love and mercy, creating something beautiful.
To make these, you have to carefully cut off the top of the apple and scoop out the insides without puncturing through the apple. You obviously want to get as much as the apple out as possible.
Then you chop up the apple you've pull out into small pieces, mixing it with cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar. Once mixed together, you put that into the carved out apple. Then you cut strips from premade pie crusts and create a lattice to close off the top. Brush a little butter on the strips and bake.
To say they're good is putting it lightly. They're fantastic!
The boys had a blast making them and especially eating them. :)
