Crawford County Youth Field Day - fishing, obstacle course, and furs

Next came the fishing station.  Not the best organization, but I think the boys enjoyed themselves.
Bryce made the first catch.
 Hayden with his line in, hoping for a bit.  He did catch a bass eventually.
 My dad and Bryce hanging out while JJ and Tanner give it a try.
 The next station was the obstacle course.  The first obstacle to beat was the javelin throw.
Hayden's first through was perfect!
 The next obstacle was the balance beam.  Lucas first walked with one foot on each side of the board.  I explained to him that he needed to walk on it and he did a good job.
 Next up was the hatchet throw -
Line it up...
let it fly...
 and an almost bulls-eye!  JJ was the only one to get the hatchet to stick!
The other boy's hatchets bounced off.
 Rounding the top of the obstacle course was the ball throw.
They had to knock a pyramid of tin cans completely off the table.
 Finishing out the race was a barrel jump.
Bryce was kind enough to give me a great action shot!
 After the obstacle course was complete, we moved over to the trapper's station where the boys learned about various types of trapping and had the chance to touch and hold different animal furs.
 JJ got quite a kick out of using the skunk fur as a puppet!
