Tanner was in the mood to do a craft today, so he got online and then remembered a craft we did at the church carnival last year. You use a funnel to fill a balloon with rice, then put that filled balloon inside a second balloon to seal it closed. Once done, the boys call them "hackey sack eyeballs" because they look like hackey sacks and with the first balloon peaking out through the outer balloon, it looks like an eye (sort of). I don't know who had more fun, Justin or the boys. JJ, Hayden, and Lucas just wanted new things to throw around. Tanner had a goal in mind - three new juggling balls. He was very intent to make his exactly the same size.
Good thing we have a jello jiggler easter egg mold because we don't have a funnel. This worked just as well though. We discovered that after filling the balloon almost to the size you wanted it, you could blow through the "funnel" to pack the rice down and make it easier to put that last little bit in.
A completed hackey sack eye ball!
Once Lucas had completed his craft, or rather after I completed his rice ball, he moved on to playing hit the balloon around the living room. Which only lasted until...

...the balloon went up and didn't come back down! He had apparently built up enough static on it from hitting it against the couch and then the floor that when it hit the ceiling it stuck!
It was a good, fun, do absolutely nothing, lazy afternoon.
And now the boys are well stocked in rice balls.
Hmm, is that safe? Probably not in this household, but you only live once!
