Tanner's game opener was tonight. He was supposed to play Saturday but the fields were under water due to the rain Grove City was blessed with last week. They came up short four runs, but played a great game and had a great rally in the last inning.
Tanner throwing it back to the pitcher while they were warming up between innings.
Tanner took the mound in the fourth inning. He had some great pitches and really did well. He's been really practicing with Justin and my dad has had him in "training" as well. He handled himself well and threw some great pitches striking several batters out.
Here's a follow through picture after the pitch was released.
Tanner started out slow at the plate, but this is his first year with players pitching. His last three years were in the coach pitch league. He struck out his first two at bats, then got a single on his third and final at bat. He stole second and was left standing when the third out was made.
His coach was pleased with their performance and the kids were pretty please with themselves too! It can only get better from here as they learn to work together as a team and improve their skills!

1 for 3 is a great day at the plate. In the big leagues, a .333 batting average is well above average. A stolen base is icing on the cake. Sounds like a successful start to the season.
