Hayden was blessed to have Mr. Ford as his first grade teacher. Tanner had him five years ago as well. There are very few male teachers in the elementary system in Grove City and Mr. Ford is definitely the best in my opinion. He truly goes above and beyond with these kids and his programming goes beyond basic education. He teaches them about things going on in the world around them both past and present.
Mr. Ford, as well as most of the other teachers, also take pictures throughout the school year and then make a slideshow for the kids for their program.
Here's a picture of Hayden with his class picture from the slideshow.
The kids came to sit with their parents before their surprise was shown.
Mr. Ford not only teaches the kids the academic curriculum, but tries to teach them a little about life, past and present. He was in the military so he always ties his class program into a Memorial Day theme as well, which I think is awesome. This year, the theme song was Aaron Tippin's "Where the Stars & Stripes & the Eagle Fly".
Each student in Mr. Ford's class was given a line of lyrics from the song and had to draw a picture of what they think that lyric was talking about. Mr. Ford made a video of the pictures in order and it had the song playing with it. It was a really idea and a great video!
This was Hayden's line and picture:
