Here are some more pictures we took from this year's baseball season. Some are just ones they wanted of themselves that we took at home and others are action shots while they're playing. You can tell whose games are a little slower paced by how many pictures I have from the little boys' games and how few from the older boys games.
Hayden so badly wants to be like Tanner. He was always volunteering to be the catcher and he did a great job at that position. His big brother trained him well.
He would collect the baseballs (in coach pitch, the coach had three baseballs to use at a time) as he caught them and store them beneath him. Then, he'd lean to the side to get them and throw them back to the coach. It looked a little like a mother bird with her eggs!
His coach was shocked at how well he did when he came up to bat. This is Hayden's first year in the coach pitch league and he did great!
And then there's Lucas...the diva of baseball!
This boy would not play unless he had his glove, his hat, and he refused to wear baseball pants. He was content to play baseball in shorts. In a house where we have three years worth of grey GC little league ball caps, it was a nightmare making sure he had his on game day.
This is the first year 4-yr-olds could play tee-ball and Lucas was so excited. He's waited for this moment since he was about 2. Although I think he was a bit disappointed in the lack of true baseball action in this league. And since he can hit a pitched ball, the tee was a little beneath him ; ) but he had a great season at the tee and in the field.
JJ started out the season taking Taekwondo lessons, but his interest in that was lost as soon as he realized the commitment and physical energy he would have to exert. Thankfully we had signed him up for baseball as well, just in case. This was JJ's first year in the minor league, so kids pitching. He did really well and made some great strides this season.
He likes that he can bat both left and right handed, although he batted lefty most of the season. A lefty batter and a righty outfielder - that's JJ.
Tanner moved up into the major league this year. He's definitely one of the smaller kids in the league, but he showed his team as well as the other teams that he still can bring it!
He's really coming into his own as a fantastic catcher and shortstop (or 2nd base) player. David and Blair should be proud that he's maintaining the family tradition at those positions.
He didn't play on a tournament team this year, but we were glad to have our weekends baseball free. Last year was a little much with seven day a week baseball commitments.
