We spent Justin's 31st birthday quietly and with just the six of us. June 3rd turned out to be a night that no one had a baseball game schedule. I stopped on my way home and picked up a DQ ice cream cake - Justin's favorite. I snuck it into the house without Justin seeing it and Tanner put it in the freezer downstairs. We would have been all set for a surprise, except Lucas kept asking, "What we gonna do with that cake downstairs?" However, Justin played his part well and acted surprised when we called him inside and the candles were lit.
Yes, it does take all five of them to blow out the candles!
After our cake, we did not wait thirty minutes before heading to a friend's house to swim!
It was a quiet day. It was a day with just us and nothing on our calendar that required us to run from here to there and back again. It was a peaceful, relaxing, and much needed night for family. I don't think Justin could have asked for a better birthday evening. It was perfect.
