Hayden and Lucas got new pets this summer. Meet Crush and Squirt - African Sulcata Tortoises:
They are 10 years old and had they been properly cared for, they'd be well on their way to being walking coffee tables by now. However, they were not cared for and were not given ample living space which resulted in their growth being stunted. I personally am not saddened by this because I really didn't need 150 pound tortoises living with me. However, they could still grow a little bit so the boys are excited to see if they do and by how much. They love to roam around the yard and eat grass and clovers. And they move pretty quickly too. They're pretty nosy and they actually have personalities too. Crush pouts if you move him away from something that isn't necessarily safe for him but he's trying to check out. They're a blast to watch and considering they live for 100+ years, we have a lot of time for watching ahead of us.
