Lucas was reading to me from his school reading book and this week's story was about different types of homes. When he got to the part in the story about houseboats, I told him I would love to live on a houseboat some day when I'm older. Lucas became all concerned and said, "But if you live on a boat, you'll run out of food. Then you'll have to take your boat to a deck thingy and go sit beside the road with a sign that says you need food."
What a humbling moment. Thankfully, I don't think he yet understands the sadness of this world. However, I also think that his comments mean that it may be time to start having those hard conversations about blessings and thankfulness and giving to others and praying for those in need.
