Puppies, puppies, puppies - 2/20/12

We have been talking about getting another dog at some point, but after the bad outcome with Shadow we knew we had to look for an older, already trained dog.  We hadn't talked about it recently, but when we saw a post on Rob's facebook about his cousin finding a dog with puppies we gave him a call.  The dog had been abandoned in the woods with six puppies and he said she was a good dog.  We told him we'd take her.  He said that was great but he was ready to get rid of them asap and he knew the puppies weren't ready to leave their mother yet.  If we wanted the mom, we had to take the whole crew.  I couldn't let a dog with six puppies go to the pound as I knew the outcome of that would very likely not be good.  So on Monday, January 20, Justin and the boys worked to build a large kennel in the garage and then headed to pick up their new friends.

The boys had a blast that first night just holding the puppies and playing with them.  The puppies soaked up the attention and Missy didn't seem to mind that all six puppies were running around with four wild boys.

 You couldn't find a happier crew than the boys and their friends.  Thankfully we found good homes for all six puppies and several people wanted Missy too.  We couldn't have asked for a better dog.  She was very well trained before we got her.  She's great with the boys and doesn't go to the bathroom in the house (yippee!)
