LEGO Kids Fest - June 18, 2011 - #2

There was a place to build LEGO cars, trucks, etc and then ramp tracks to race them on.

The kids loved this part and kept coming back to it.

Halfway through our adventure, we took a timeout. Thankfully my mom and I were on the same thinking pattern and had both packed snacks (snacks at the concession stand were obviously insanely overpriced) - she packed clementines, bananas, and apple juice. I packed graham crackers, vanilla cookies, and water. All together it made a great snack!

On the one side of the conference center, they had an outline of the United States. Each child was given a 6x6 green lego mat and told to help build the US.

East coast, middle states, West coast

Here's Lucas's "community"

If you look in the back-middle of the picture that's where Lucas's piece was placed.

Hard at work building the USA.

All around the conference center were huge lego "things"... animals, people, cartoon characters...

All the boys, except for Lucas and Hayden (who got treated to the giant LEGO pile), attended a Master Builder class. There are apparently only 7 Master Builders working for LEGO Corp. who have been certified as such by the company. One of them is always on tour with the LEGO Kids Fest to offer a Master Builder Academy.

I think this sign was for those parents who found themselves caught up in the millions of LEGO pieces and either:

1. Were temporarily rendered insane due to their OCD and the overwhelming panic massive piles of LEGOs on the floor caused, thus forgetting about their children.

or

2. Were temporarily awed and sidetracked while trying to build the coolest _______(fill in the blank as to your LEGO creation's title) and thus forgot they brought children with them.

Ah, the walk back to the parking lot. Quite a success I'd say.

Thanks Grandma/Aunt/Miss Cathy for a great day!
